12/30/09 - INDY COMIC BOOK WEEK!Indy Comic Book Week is not only an event, but also a call to action. Diamond Comic Distributors announced they will not ship any new comics for the last week of December. This company is the primary distributor of comic books in North America. What some would call a sad week without our favorite mainstream titles, we are calling an opportunity. This vacancy allows independent and small press comic book creators to claim this week as their own.
We challenge writers and artists to self publish new material for this week, and offer it to their local stores. We ask for retailers to take this as an opportunity to showcase local independent talent on the new release shelves. We encourage fans to break from their buying habits and try something new.
Raise your fist and proudly declare that comic books are more than an industry, more than a handful of corporations – it is a creative outlet for independent-minded artists and storytellers. This last week of 2009 belongs to you. Power to the people. Right on.
If you're on twitter, use the hashtag #indycomicbookweek when promoting your site.
8/24/09 - Just want to make sure you all know about the newest contributors to CE Publishing, the fabulous tag-team of Mark Davis and Randy Valiente! I won't spoil the surprise, but it will involve aliens and the number 51! The first issue of Perilous Adventures is going to be a big fat one, chock full of action and adventure! Thanks to all who have been so patient in waiting for our next book, we hope it is worth it.
8/8/08 - Everybody should read Jon's Comic review Blog called E-Dispatches from the Great White North. It's a insightful and honest review from a great comic authority that knows his stuff about everything to do with comics and more. Also if you are a publisher looking for reviews, contact Jon and he will get you on his list.
http://dispatchesfromthegreatwhitenorth.blogspot.com/5/15/08 - Our cat Plato died today, RIP, he was the real Hero in our household. So while I was moping in both relief and grief I added the new Perilous Adventures #1 cover to the comics page that is long overdue. Now I have to just ink a couple more pages of the book and off to proof land. Won't you all be glad when we make it to a #2 issue? Me too, tired of #1. Also the first round of books to send to Iraq/Afghanistan will start printing next week for shipment overseas in June. Can't wait to send them.4/13/08 -
PORTLAND COMICON!!! Had an artist/indie table at the Portland Comicon. It was a great time after lunch cause we finally sold our first book. Special THANKS to all of you PDXers that were brave enough to buy the greatest comic books known to man. The rest of you, well you can be envious of the fearless indie readers that supported the great CE Publishing Group. We got to meet a bunch of nice people and watch Stormtroopers and Jedi roam the aisles. Best of all we met living legends Tony DeZuniga and Alex Nino! Spent some time talking to Tony who couldn't believe we had Supermen like Dick Ayers, Steve Skeates, Sam Glanzman and Don Perlin working with us. So I took copies of our artwork over to him and he laughed and said "Dang you aren't bluffing, you're one lucky guy". And he's right, I am lucky to have these great legends and especially all of the creators that have been patiently waiting sooo long to get this project started. Now I just have to enlist Master Tony into our ranks and life will be complete. The cover for Perilous Adventures is now complete so be looking out for it in the Comics section in the near future. Just a few more details to work out and that book will be ready to print.
